I am a Christian. I have accepted Jesus Christ into my life as my Lord and Saviour. In other words, I believe that He is the Son of God, who forgives my sins. Does this make me different from non-believers? Yes. Does this make me better than, or superior to, non-believers? No! All human beings are made by God, all are loved by God, and all do sinful things - in thought, word and deed - because we can choose to. But if you believe in Jesus, say sorry and you are FORGIVEN. And needless to say, try to do better in future. Not easy - it's human nature to let those bad words and actions creep in!
1 John chapter 1 verses 8 to 10 say: If we say that we have no sin we deceive ourselves, and there is no truth in us. But if we confess our sins to God, He will keep His promise and do what is right: He will forgive us our sins and purify us from all our wrongdoing. If we say that we have not sinned we make God out to be a liar, and His word is not in us. And Romans Chapter 3 verses 22 to 24 say: God puts people right through their faith in Jesus Christ. God does this to all who believe in Christ, because there is no difference at all: everyone has sinned and is far away from God's saving presence. But by the free gift of God's grace all are put right with Him through Christ, who sets them free.
Lots of Christians attend church, study the Bible and spend time in prayer - but we do that in order to learn more about our Lord, not to "show off". If ever we do behave in such a way, it's WRONG. We just want to tell others that God loves them, with unconditional love! And WE are to love other people. We are not "better than" those of other beliefs (or none), or those with different colour skin to ours, or who are poor or less educated. With regard to evildoers, we hate what they DO - and pray about it - not who they ARE. Hypocrisy should have no place in the Christian faith.
