Psalm 127 verse 3 tells us: "Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a real blessing".
Here are three of the many wise Proverbs concerning children:
Proverbs 13 verse 24 "If you don't punish your son, you don't love him. If you do love him, you will correct him".
Proverbs 19 verse 18 "Discipline your children while they are young enough to learn. If you don't, you are helping them to destroy themselves".
Proverbs 22 verse 6 "Teach children how they should live, and they will remember it all their lives".
Jesus loved the little children. Mark chapter 10 verses 13 to 16 tell us: "Some people brought children to Jesus for Him to place His hands on them, but the disciples scolded the people. When Jesus noticed this, He was angry and said to His disciples 'Let the children come to me and do not stop them, because the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I assure you that whoever does not receive the Kingdom of God like a child will never enter it'. Then He took the children in His arms, placed His hands on each of them and blessed them".
You see, Jesus knew that the very young are trusting and uncomplicated in their view of the world. The Good News of our salvation, because of the death and resurrection of Jesus, is easy to understand, and we must place our trust always in Him.
St. Paul also had something else to say. In Ephesians chapter 6 verse 4 we read "Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord".
